Is a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Right for You?

Is a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Right for You?

Maybe you’ve been dreaming of becoming a yoga teacher, or perhaps you’re simply looking to deepen your own practice, whatever the reason,  if you’ve been considering a 200 hour yoga teacher training and wondering if it is the best option for you, this blog is here to give you some valuable insight onto what to expect from our 200 hour Yin and Vinyasa Teacher Training at Inner Yoga.

Why should I do a yoga teacher training?

Not all students that join our 200 hour Teacher Training in Bali intend to teach after the course; we find many of our students come to the course to broaden their knowledge, deepen their own practice and feel the amazing transformative benefits that a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training offers. If you have been tossing up between a yoga retreat or a teacher training it’s important to consider first what you want to get out of your experience. Yoga retreats are a beautiful way to escape your daily life and go inward to reset and relax, a yoga teacher training on the other hand is far more immersive, offering an intense transformation experience. Because the intention of a YTT is to prepare students to go out into the world and guide and support others, the focus is really on the self. A YTT prepares the student physically, mentally and emotionally to become teachers and guides, and is a full body reset. If your intention is to deeply dive into yourself, change your perspectives and ultimately change your life then a YTT is definitely for you.

What can I expect from the training?

Our 200 hours yoga certification 2020 course provides a strong foundation that will enable you to sequence and teach safely and effectively both a Vinyasa yoga class and a Yin Yoga class. You will have a sound understanding of how the body works so that you can help with alignment and correct student postures as well as be more aware in your own practice. We will also cover in depth other aspects of the yoga tradition including history and philosophy. Each morning will begin with meditation and pranayama and a 90 minute Vinyasa practice. We will look at a few different meditation techniques and pranayama practices so that you can choose those that work for you and you can learn to teach them effectively. As part of your Yin training, we delve into concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine learning about Meridians (energy channels) and the 5 elements within the body. Each afternoon we wind down and enjoy the benefits of a 90 minute Yin practice.

How much experience practicing yoga do I need to have before joining a 200hr YTT?

Generally we say 3 months experience practicing yoga is all you need before joining our training, we recommend attending classes 3 times a week leading up to the training to prepare your body and mind for the course. Obviously this is just a rough guide, if you are physically fit and active and have experience in Pilates or something similar you will be just fine; our training incorporates one vinyasa class in the morning and a yin class in the evening. An open mind and a positive attitude are the best assets you can bring along with you to the course.

Why choose a Yoga Alliance school?

Yoga Alliance is an internationally recognized yoga qualification and means that you can teach yoga anywhere in the world. We choose to be registered with Yoga Alliance because it means our students get the best opportunities after the course and are able to use the qualification anywhere in the world.
